Case study · Global EdTech · Repositioning

Turned a de-growing CXO portfolio into an AI-ready leadership proposition.

A senior executive education portfolio was losing ground — not because the content was weak, but because the story no longer matched what buyers were actually afraid of and looking for.

Sector: Global EdTech · Executive education Scope: Repositioning, buyer research, B2B expansion
The problem

Buyers weren't shopping for content — they were shopping for readiness.

The portfolio of CDO, CAIO and CTO leadership programs was framed as a syllabus — modules, faculty, credentials. But the executives evaluating it weren't asking "what will I learn," they were asking "will I be ready for what AI is about to do to my role, my team and my industry." That mismatch between how the programs were sold and what buyers actually needed to hear was quietly de-growing a portfolio with strong underlying content.

What we did

Found the real buying motivation, then rebuilt the story and the market around it.

Mined sales conversations & drop-off data

Went back through real sales conversations and where prospects dropped off, to find the actual objections and motivations driving — or blocking — a decision.

Mapped buyer motivation

Segmented prospective buyers by career transition versus organizational mandate, since those two groups needed a very different pitch.

Opened a parallel B2B enterprise track

Built a second go-to-market motion aimed at organizations mandating AI-readiness programs for their leadership bench, alongside the individual-buyer track.

Reframed the proposition

Repositioned the CDO, CAIO and CTO programs from "course topic" to "career destination" — from syllabus to AI-ready leadership.

The result

A portfolio that was shrinking started growing again — nearly 3×.
